Hey Steve, I just discovered your site and I love all the stuff you put out. Very well done. I have never really fished for catfish, but I am really looking to catch some channel cats in Wisconsin this summer. I have some questions for catfishing from shore: I am thinking that I will spend a day on the bank by settting up two rods in holders with cut-bait sitting on the bottom. Does a pyramid sinker work best to keep it anchored in the current? or does an egg sinker do the job. Also, I am thinking of walking with another rod to cast out and let it drift. What set-up should I use for that? Slip bobber with Santee rig? or should I just use a Carolina rig, keep it off the bottom? Thanks.

I checked the il. Regs and there are creel limits but not size limits on catfish..I think the states ,Il. ,Ohio, Indiana, Mo., and Iowa should hold hearings to standardize the laws in order to promote the fisheries . Back in the day you could see 15 to 20 largemouth bass killed and on a stringer. Today you would spend time in jail for that. It's all about perception and money. We as cat fishers need to lead the way and work with our DNR folks to promote legitimate regulations.

Hey Steve, thanks for the tips. I have never fished for blues but hopefully I'm going to start this summer. Been bank fishing flatheads for about 4 yrs and haven't done very well, we've ( my 12yr old son and I) caught a 30# and a 20#(step son) in that time. People that fish the same places have caught 15# to 70# fish regular. One guy caught 70#s back to back years so I know one of these days it will be our turn. But back to the subject, I really appreciate your dedication to this site on tips and how to sections. Thanks again, mabey you'll make me a better fisherman for your troubles.

Hello Steve, question, when you hook a fish while drifting do you anchor or just bring in the fish while drifting. Thx Devlyn.
